In this book, the writer takes us through a preliminary stage of the initiation of 'neophytes' into the cult in strict detail including illustrations to help the reader better grasp the process. This book is more of a procedural explanation as opposed to a narrative or a story. The reader is introduced to a portion of the initiation procedure of the cult. What I find a welcome relief is the commentary which is very insightful for the reader and cathartic for the writer. Reading this book I can see what I discern to be grand standing and theatrics involved in the initiation process. In all spiritual or religious orders around the world such procedures, processions, chants and so on exist and are informed by tradition, myth, and dogma. Human society has for all time sought and acknowledged a higher existence that transcends the one we experience physically and this informs religious and spiritual endeavours. Cults are however a perversion of this since the aim of cults is to exploit psychologically, spiritually and most importantly, financially. In the commentary, the writer extrapolates this by showing us the parallels that can be drawn between the cult's practices and other religious orders like the Christian faith. More to that, the commentary is full of sarcasm and humour and yet it is evident the disappointment, bitterness and anger the writer feels owing to the exploitation he suffered all those years in the captivity of this cult, which is compounded by the fact that he did not find the reprieve promised by the cult. The writer also seeks to export to the readership a deeper and better understanding of the occult philosophy which creates a more knowledgeable and thus less gullible populace. As a reader, I would like to see more information and greater depth not only in explaining the procedures followed but the ideologies that inform cultism. The writer is in a unique position to expose these organizations. He has a wealth of information, years of experience and the mere fact that he got out gives him an edge unlike any external resource. Additionally, he could include the testimony and biographies of his fellow members both in and out of the order which would make his work and effort to expose these orders much richer. This is a well written work and I look forward to a deeper, wider, richer text which would be a worthy read.
